Relocating his leather shop from the bustling streets of Pisa,
Italy to Bountiful, Utah, USA, has provided more than a change of
scenery for this leather worker. Since moving to Utah in 1996, he
has brought his style of made-to-order leather works to the
community.
Loriano's style comes from 45 years of leather-working experience.
He was only 14 when he began repairing belts as an apprentice in a
shoe-repair shop. From that humble beginning, he took a position
making leather aprons for a glass manufacturing company but kept
making custom-order items in his spare time. When one of his leather
suppliers mentioned he was leaving his store, Loriano bought him out
in 1972. Eventually, he owned two stores in Pisa.
Soon after moving to Utah, Loriano felt the urge to do more leather
work so he opened up shop. Now at 69, he knows that he is at
an age where many people retire, but he is not planning on giving up
his craft anytime soon.
